Farid Cutz opened on Beyers Naudé Drive in 2014 with a straightforward idea: give every client a cut that actually suits him, in a clean shop, at a fair price. No rushing, no upselling, no guessing.
Our barbers are formally trained and keep up with what is happening in men's grooming — but we will always tell you when a style is not going to work for your hair. That honesty is why most of our clients have been with us for years.

Good to know
Last appointments are booked one hour before closing. If you are running late, please call us — we will do our best to fit you in. Services for children under 12 are booked at the Kids Cut rate. Card, cash and instant EFT are accepted in store.

About us

Our story
It started with one chair and a second-hand mirror.
Farid Cassim began cutting hair in 2009 in a two-chair salon in Mayfair, Johannesburg. Word travelled quickly — mostly because he took the time to ask men what they actually wanted, instead of doing the same cut on everybody.
In 2014 he opened Farid Cutz on Beyers Naudé Drive. The shop has grown from one chair to four, added two more barbers and a grooming room, and somehow kept the same atmosphere it had on day one: good music, straight conversation and no nonsense.
Today we cut for lawyers and students, fathers and sons, guys preparing for a wedding and guys who just want to look tidy on a Monday. The standard never changes.
Our approach
Two minutes of conversation before anything is cut.
We start every appointment by looking at your hair, asking how you normally wear it and how much time you spend on it in the morning. Then we cut. A great haircut that takes twenty minutes to style is not a great haircut for most men.
We keep a short note of your cut on file — the guards, the length on top, how you like your neckline — so your next visit picks up exactly where the last one ended.

Appointments
Appointments can be booked through this website, by telephone on +27 11 467 2890, or in store. Online bookings are confirmed immediately and generate a booking reference. We recommend arriving five minutes before your appointment so you can settle in without delaying the barber.

Booking confirmation
Once your booking is submitted you will see a confirmation screen containing your booking reference, service, barber, date and time. You can add the appointment to Google Calendar or Apple Calendar directly from that screen. Please check that the details are correct and contact us immediately if anything is wrong.

Cancellation policy
We understand that plans change. Please give us at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, or failure to arrive for an appointment, may require a deposit for future bookings. Repeated no-shows may result in us asking for prepayment on subsequent appointments.

Late arrival policy
We hold your chair for ten minutes past your appointment time. If you arrive later than ten minutes, we will still do our best to accommodate you, but we may need to shorten the service or reschedule you to another slot so that other clients are not kept waiting.

Service information
Service descriptions on this website are a guide. The final result depends on your hair type, density, scalp condition and how the hair has been cut previously. Your barber will consult with you before starting and will advise you honestly on what is achievable. If you have a specific style in mind, please bring a reference photo.

Pricing
All prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT at the prevailing rate. Prices are subject to change, and the price applicable to your appointment is the price displayed on this website at the time of booking. Additional services requested in store will be charged at the published rate.

Payments
Payment is due at the time of service. We accept cash, debit and credit cards (chip and PIN) and instant EFT. No payment is taken through this website. For group bookings or full grooming packages we may request a 50% deposit when the appointment is made.

Customer responsibilities
Please inform your barber of any scalp conditions, skin sensitivities or allergies before your service begins. Children must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue a service if a client behaves in a way that is abusive, discriminatory or unsafe, or if a service cannot be performed safely.

We collect your name, email address, phone number and booking details in order to manage your appointment and contact you about it. This information is stored securely, is never sold or shared for marketing purposes, and is handled in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Changes to services
We may update our service menu, pricing or opening hours from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this website. Where a change affects an existing booking, we will contact you using the details provided at the time of booking.

2. What information we collect
When you book an appointment we collect:
- Your full name
- Your email address
- Your mobile number
- The service, barber, date and time you selected
- Any notes you choose to leave for your barber
We also keep a short record of previous cuts so that your barber can repeat a style you liked. We do not collect identity numbers, banking details or any sensitive personal information through this website.
3. Why we collect it
We use your information only to: manage and confirm your appointment; contact you if your booking changes; keep a record of your preferences for future visits; and improve the service we offer. We do not sell your information or use it for third-party marketing.
4. How long we keep it
Booking records are retained for 24 months so that we can assist with queries, disputes and repeat bookings. After that they are deleted or anonymised. You may ask us to delete your information sooner by contacting us.
5. How we protect it
Booking data is stored in a secured database with access limited to authorised staff. This website uses encrypted connections, and all form input is validated and handled securely on our servers. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
6. Your rights
In line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, to object to our use of it, or to ask us to delete it.
